This activity comes from the early learning blog Things to Share and Remember. You can download and print the bird photos for this activity here. You could even print two copies and you have an automatic matching game ready to go.
First, introduce each bird. You can discuss where these birds live, how they build their nests, and their identifying characteristics. Are they big? Little? Red? Black? Do they swim, hop, come out at night? Share what you know of these birds with your kids - no need to gain new information for this activity. Then, listen to each bird's sound together. Use this link to play your bird sounds!
Once you and your child are familiar with the sounds of each of the birds, challenge your child to pick out the correct bird when you play it's sound. This is a tricky one for sure, but a great way to develop discerning listening skills.
