ARTS N PLAY
ArtS N Play, co-led by an Early Childhood teacher and a Board Certified Music Therapist, offers participation in funfilled, arts-infused, literacy-based group play experiences designed to provide developmentally appropriate opportunities to strengthen behavioral, social and communication skills. The curriculum is also designed to develop and support pre-reading, math, science and social studies concepts within a center-based preschool classroom. Schedule will include free play, snack, circle time, stories, arts & crafts, large muscle activities (including outdoor activities), and music therapy. The program’s unique music therapy component reinforces the curriculum and skills being addressed through prescriptively designed music therapy interventions. Criteria for acceptance include identification of a special need, provision of an IEP or professional evaluation(s), and completion of an initial assessment with our ArtS N Play staff. Children with special needs will have opportunities to bridge with peers who are “typically developing.” Financial aid and scholarships available to qualified applicants!

Early Childhood

The Music Settlement continues to lead the way in developing innovative programs for young children, providing exceptional music experiences from birth to age 8 and award-winning Preschool & Day School programs for children ages 3 to 5 years.

The Music Settlement's Early Childhood Education Department offers Preschool and Day School programs for children 3 to 5 years of age. The Preschool is a half-day program beginning in September and ending the first Tuesday in June. Children attend either a 2, 3, 4 or 5-day program (depending on the age of the child), with Extended Day and Lunch Bunch options available. The Day School program provides working parents childcare in a learning environment enriched by the arts and science. The Day School is in session year round (with a two week break in August and other holidays), 5 days a week, 6:30 a.m. until 5:45 p.m.
